It is the responsibility of the DeSoto County Sheriff to provide for the security of the Courthouse.

Court Security is a Division within the Uniformed Patrol Bureau, commonly referred to as "Court Bailiffs." The "Court Bailiffs" are sworn Deputy Sheriffs.

Deputies are present in the courthouse to maintain order and provide safety and security for those who work there and visitors conducting business therein. Deputies are also tasked with protecting jurors and enforcing the rules of the courts. Deputies open court by announcing the judges' arrival to the bench and close court by announcing the judges' departure from the bench.
