Untitled design (14) - Copy (2)Major Andrew Proudfit began serving with the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office in 2003. From 2005 to 2012 he served as a detective in the Narcotics Unit. He was promoted to Corporal in 2013 and just one year later to Sergeant. He was appointed to Lieutenant in January 2017,  two months later was appointed to the Captain of Uniformed Patrol Bureau and in 2021 promoted to the rank of Major.

During his 15 years of service with the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, Major Proudfit has logged over 1561 training hours. He has obtained formal training in Advanced Leadership and is a General Instructor, as well as, a Firearms Instructor. Other training includes: Critical Incident Leadership, Active Shooter, Line Supervision, FDLE F.F.S. 943, Title 19 Cross Designation Training, and Clandestine Lab Investigations.

In 2015, Major Proudfit graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 261, hosted in Quantico, VA. More recently, he has attended advanced training for Managing Field Training Programs (FTO), FBI-Leeda Trilogy and Risk Management Training.

For 10 years Major Proudfit has served as a member and Commander of the SWAT Team and in 2017 became a certified Dive Team Member.
